In this Elanora Realty blog, our suburb in profile series features Elanora.
Elanora features and amenities
From the Aboriginal word meaning home by the sea, Elanora is not quite a beachfront suburb as it sits just behind Palm Beach. The Pacific motorway separates Elanora from Palm Beach to the east, and neighbouring suburbs include Currumbin Waters and Tallebudgera.
Elanora sits up high on a ridge affording many houses with gorgeous ocean, creek or lake views. It is the ideal area for families, with plenty of parks and playgrounds, including a skate bowl and kids bicycle track. Go for a ride or take the dog for a walk around Eddie Kornhauser Recreational Reserve. With almost 8 km of walking track, an off-leash dog island, lake and plenty of wildlife, this is a great weekend spot.
Many of the older trees in the leafy suburb have been conserved and with 2 golf courses on the doorstep—Tally Valley Golf course and Tallebudgera Park Golf Course—green space abounds.
If shopping is more your scene, the Pines Shopping Centre on KP McGrath Drive offers plenty of retail therapy. You’ll also find medical and dental facilities as well as the local library at the shopping centre too.
While Elanora is popular with families, it offers plenty for the retiree too. Self-contained units offer low maintenance lakefront living at resorts like the Bay of Palms and there are also 2 retirement villages in the area.
There is a good public transport via bus and easy access to the M1 making it easy to travel in and around the area.
