It’s the turn of Currumbin Waters’ as our suburb in profile on our Elanora Realty blog.
Currumbin Waters features and amenities
Currumbin Waters is approximately 10 square kilometres in size and sits on the Queensland border with New South Wales. It is not the southerly most suburb on the Gold Coast, however, as the border veers further south at the coast. Situated directly west of Currumbin, the surrounding suburbs include Palm Beach, Elanora and Currumbin Valley.
The suburb is situated around Currumbin Creek and has a number of waterfront properties—many with access to the sea at Currumbin Alley. The creek is a haven for water sports enthusiasts and most weekends it is dotted with stand-up paddle boarders, kayakers, fishers and people out on their tinnies. The suburb also boasts 29 parks covering almost 7.7% of the total area.
Shopping
The area is serviced by a small shopping centre, Currumbin Fair with an IGA, bottle shop, and other small businesses. Most locals shop at the Pines in neighbouring Elanora—a fairly large shopping centre with the 3 big supermarket chains, Coles, Woolworths and Aldi as well as a number of well-known retail outlets.
Transport links
Brisbane CBD is 88km north of the suburb and easily accessible by the M1. Public transport relies entirely on buses, which link to heavy rail at Varsity Lakes, the southernmost train station on the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast airport is just a short 10-minute drive from the area.
Local Schools
All state schools in the area have enforced catchment zones, so where you live will affect which school your child is eligible to attend. There are 2 local state primary schools (Prep to Year 6) that service Currumbin Waters: Currumbin State School and Elanora State School. The area is also served by 2 state high schools: Elanora State High School and Palm Beach Currumbin State High School (Years 7-12). There is also a Catholic Primary School on Galleon Way.
